Virginia Academy of Irish Dance is owned by Shani DuFrain, T.C.R.G.
Certified through Dublin-based Chomhdháil na Múinteoirí le Rincí Gaelacha Teoranta (An Chomhdháill for short; pronounced, " An Co-gull"), which is the largest Irish dance organization in Ireland. Many Riverdance and Lord of the Dance members came from an An Chomdhdáil background.
V.A.I.D. is the only Irish dance school in Northern Virginia registered with An Chomhdháil.
Every dancer has unique strengths and unique needs. Therefore, every class combines a primary focus on music and rhythm, traditional Irish dance technique, and a practical application of fitness expertise, to help each Irish dancer excel.

Welcome to my site! I am a certified Irish dance teacher (Teastais de Comhdháil na Rince Gaelacha), or T.C.R.G., under the USA Irish Dance Alliance branch of An Chomhdháil. I have over 25 years of Irish dance experience, and I currently teach Irish dance through my school: Virginia Academy of Irish Dance.
Every performance - on stage, in class, practicing at home, or in competition - is an opportunity to share beauty, art, and creativity. I look forward to sharing the joy of music and Irish dance with my students and everyone I encounter.
